Czech for Foreigners Bachelor Studies

In the academic year 2016/17 will not be open nor a three-year Bachelor program Czech for Foreigners neither two-year follow-up master programme. These programmes will be open next academic year.

The entrance test has two parts: written and oral. The written part tests student’s knowledge of the subject she or he has chosen, the related subjects, and also some general knowledge. The applicants for Czech studies as a Foreign Language need to prove both their ability to study a philology discipline, and their good communicative knowledge of the Czech language in addition to general knowledge of Czech literature, culture and history.

During the oral part of the entrance exam the applicant´s general motivation for studying the subject will be surveyed. The exam is taken in front of a committee consisting of experts in the field. The minimum level of the applicant´s language competence is B1. A reading list as a ground for discussion about czech literature is required.

The Follow-up Master Degree Programme

In the academic year 2016/17 will not be open nor a three-year Bachelor program Czech for Foreigners neither two-year follow-up master programme. These programmes will be open next academic year.

If graduates of the bachelor programme of Czech as a foreign language register to the following master programme, they will not have to sit for the entrance examination.

The entrance examination for this type of study has two parts. In the first part applicants sit for a written test of Czech grammar, linguistic and literary terminology, of Czech culture, history and literature, etc. (see the model test). The essay on a given topic will also be a part of the written test.

The second part is an oral test. The conversation follows the applicant’s knowledge of the Czech language, Czech literature (the applicant is supposed to submit a reading list) and culture. The applicant’s ability to study a philology discipline and his/her motivation are evaluated as well.
