We are pleased to announce  that the Institute of Czech Studies
is launching a new course for the Fall Semester 2020 –Czech Language Online
(A2, intermediate level).

The course is designed for students of Slavonic Studies and Eastern and Central European Stu
dies.  Students entering the course should have knowledge of the Czech language at an A1
level.

Details of the course:  

• Course period – September 21 – December 11, 2020 (12 weeks)
• Credits – 4,5 US/9 ECTS credits
• Attendance policy – participants are expected to attend at least 70% of classes
• Class size – min. 6, max. 12 students
• Certificate – Charles University Transcript of Records 
  

Description of the course: 
 ·         The course emphasizes the practical skills of speaking. The goal is to help learners master functional grammar and vocabulary by providing a number of both prepared and improvised everyday life conversations.   
 ·         Per week - 2 sessions (90 min each, synchronous) + 1 lecture (45 min, asynchronous) +  1 thematic group consultation based on student requests and needs (45 min synchronous). 
 ·         Czech Language online utilizes the “Interactive Czech” Moodle learning management system to deliver the course material. The live sessions take place via the Zoom video conferencing system 

The course covers 

• Czech language morphology and syntax,
• listening and reading,
• training in oral communication and writing,
• conversation and vocabulary development,
• text analyses,
• lectures  from Czech literature, culture a history , followed by the consultation on  the topic 

  Application deadline: 31st July 2020
