Key Publications
Apart from publishing monographs (4 new works were published recently), our staff regularly contribute to the Český jazyk a literatura, SALI, Naše řeč, Bohemistyka etc. magazines. The Institute also publishes Proceedings from the International Symposium on Czech as a Foreign Language, consisting of articles by Czech as well as foreign bohemists. Among the long-term projects of the Institute also rank  the Proceedings from the Summer School of Slavonic Studies, a collection of lectures held by experts based not only at the Faculty of Arts and other institutions. The Proceedings are renowned not only among Czech institutions, but also among institutes of bohemistics and
professional libraries abroad.

This comprehensive overview of Czech history from 1938 to 1945 is a part of one of the major historical publications The History of the Czech Lands.

The second, revised and enlarged, edition of the originally four-volume Dictionary of Czech phraseology and idiomatics, including a theoretical segment on the characteristics of Czech phraseology and idiomatics. For each entry, equivalents in other languages are provided. The dictionary has been awarded the Dictionary of the Year Award.

The Frequency dictionary of spoken Czech is based on the corpus of a variety of Czech monological and dialogical speeches. It is the first corpus-based dictionary in the history of Czech linguistics of currently spoken language.

The Reading Book of spoken Czech consists of texts gathered by the authors of the dictionary of currently spoken Czech. The texts are a valuable material not only for Czech bohemists and their further research but also for teaching Czech as a foreign language.

Czech as a Foreign Language, B2 Level – Vantage is a part of a widely concieved project inspired by the international project of the Council of Europe and initiated by the The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. The project aims at the description Czech as a foreign language.

Milan Hrdlička’s monography Grammar in teaching Czech as a foreign language focuses on the place of grammar in the communicative teaching methods.

Milan Hrdlička: Kapitoly o češtině jako cizím jazyku, Plzeň 2010
Chapters on Czech as a foreign language is a reflection on linguistic and didactic problems of teaching Czech for foreigners and Czech as a foreign language.
